THE SITUATION
A benchmark, chosen deliberately
Between April and May 2025, the studio set itself a challenge: take one of the strongest product films in the industry and match its level - not by copying it, but by rebuilding its impact through our own animation, lighting, environments and colour direction. The headphone was kept deliberately unbranded and simple, so the craft would have nowhere to hide. Independent studio project - the original reference film was created by @stusyan.md for beyerdynamic; this study is unaffiliated with both.
THE CHALLENGE
Make a simple object feel premium
A headphone with restrained geometry offers nothing for free. Every ounce of premium feel had to come from somewhere else: product motion, camera direction, composition, environment design, lighting, materials, reflections, rendering and post. Each of the seven scenes carried its own layout, framing, continuity and lighting problems - and the light had to hit the impact of the benchmark while staying consistent across the whole sequence.
Process Heading
01
DEVELOPMENT
Deep analysis of the reference film: why its pacing, light and camera logic work - followed by visual research and material and lighting studies, until the direction locked: gaming-culture energy on a palette of orange, blue, purple and deep red.
The reference wall

The benchmark film analysed shot by shot - frames, macro details and production ideas pinned side by side.
Colour and palette studies

Nebula worlds and colour tests - orange, blue, purple and deep red - that gave every environment its own temperature.
02
PRE-PRODUCTION
No traditional storyboard: the benchmark film already defined shot structure and timing, serving as board and moodboard in one. Instead of gray-box blocking, scenes were previsualised directly with prepared production assets.
Asset-based previz
Composition, product placement, camera framing, movement and scale were explored directly with the real scene elements - every arrangement adjusted until the shot held up on its own.
03
PRODUCTION
Blender at the core, Substance 3D Painter for surfacing, Photoshop for texture prep, Cinema 4D for selected animation tasks. Scene assembly, environments, lighting design, product and camera animation, rendering and optimisation - iterated shot by shot.
Scene breakdowns — wireframe · light · final
Three scenes from the film, each shown at its three depths of the build: raw wireframe, lighting pass, final grade. This is the whole pipeline, visible in one row.

POST-PRODUCTION
Edit, compositing, colour grade, VFX refinement, typography and final QC in DaVinci Resolve - multiple review passes for colour relationships, transitions, pacing and clarity, delivered as a 1080p 30fps master.
The graded frame
Orange, blue, purple and deep red - colour relationships balanced in the grade until seven scenes read as one film.

The benchmark, met
The finished film became one of Craf-T's strongest capability proofs - the piece that shows prospective clients what the studio can do with even the simplest product. Internally, it set the craft bar for everything that followed and proved a working method: study a world-class reference beyond its surface, understand why it works, then rebuild that impact with an original direction.
